Get ready for things to be even more strange in 2017.
Netflix announced on Wednesday that the incredibly popular series, “Stranger Things,” would be returning for a second season in 2017 with nine new episodes. The series, which was created by the Duffer Brothers and stars Winona Ryder, became a pop culture sensation and one of the streaming service’s most popular shows over the summer.
The 1980s-set thriller starred Ryder as a concerned mother, who begins to seek the truth after her son disappears suspiciously in their rural town. While she seeks answers, her son’s friends encounter a telekinetic girl, who helps with their own search, while the boy’s older brother and the town’s police chief also begin their own investigations.
Variety reports plans for season two have been “underway for quite some time” with the Duffer Brothers returning as writers and executive producers.
